Pre-ordered this back in August but only just now got around to reading it! Frendo is back, baby! But in what way? It’s a year after the Baypen Massacre in Kettle Springs and our heroes Quinn, Rust, and Cole are attempting to move on with their lives. However, when Quinn and her father are attacked on Halloween night in two separate places, it reveals a sinister plan based on conspiracies and extremist internet commentary. Overall, I really enjoyed this sequel! Adam portrays internet commentary so well it’s unsettling. It’s a great portrayal on how extreme people get online. Tragedies can happen and there are people who will accuse the survivors of it not happening/or it not being the real story(honestly, similar to some real life tragedies that have happened in the last couple of years). I really felt for our heroes in the book who have to continue life and going through the motions while having to deal with this type of commentary and conspiracies about them. I’m not gonna lie Rust and Cole’s relationship was a little frustrating to read at some points. While it’s clear they care about each other, it almost feels like they’re just staying together because they’re trauma bonded now. Cole is starting to become a little bit unlikeable. However, it’s great to have Quinn again as a character and the ending of this book with her is so so satisfying and badass. I do think the pacing of this book a little slow. With it being a slasher, i really wanted the action to happen a little bit quicker but when the action DOES happen, it’s extremely satisfying. I think this book as a whole is a great sequel to the original. The plot is fresh, with themes relevant to social commentary today and kills in this are wild. I really enjoyed this book! It was as good or better than the first, as I'd hoped. And not as gory as I expected after the first book. It was unique for its mix of horror and social commentary and mystery, and the writing and tone were consistent throughout the story.
I love Quinn & Rust’s friendship and caretaking of each other without the eye-rolling romance involved! I think Rust is a unique character, he's into weapons but only is them for self-defense and tries to do as little damage as possible.

I would recommend the duology it's unique and enjoyable as well as thought-provoking. I think both horror fans and horror skeptics will enjoy it.

Wow! I can't believe I am saying this, but I think I love the sequel more than the first novel which is rare for me. Clown in a Cornfield 2 brings gives us more action, is gorier, and hits close to home with the social media aspects and what that can cause in our everyday society.
Clown in a Cornfield 2 follows the three (Quinn, Rust, and Cole) as they try to continue on with their lives after the tragic events of last year. Things appeared to be going along well until the year one anniversary when their old enemy Frendo decides to reemerge and continue what was started last year.
I love Adam Cesare's homage to the world of 80's slashers, and he does great justice to it!! There is a LOT of gore again so be warned that there are some pretty cringeworthy scenes. I also loved the added element of social media that really brings home that this situation could happen in everyday life and makes it that much more suspenseful!
I loved getting to see further development of Quinn, Rust, and Cole because they are just the most adorable little trio. I also enjoyed the new cast we are introduced to especially Jessi. I really hope we do get a Clown in the Cornfield 3 so we can see them again!!! I am not ready to say goodbye to these guys lol.

When I heard a sequel to Clown in a Cornfield was out, I wasn’t sure what it would even be about but I knew I had to read it. This was not only a great start to my Fall/Halloween TBR but an extremely strong sequel. I never in 100 years expected to like Clown in a Cornfield 2 better than the first novel but I think I did.
This addition to the story felt so much more scary and out of control than the events from the original Baypen Massacre. I spent a lot of the book wondering how the hell our main characters (Quinn, Rust, and Cole, along with a new character who lived through the original tragedy also, Jerry) where even going to get out of this.
As expected of Clown in a Cornfield this book was fast pace, fun, and didn’t beat around the bush with the outrageous violence and murder. Also, as to be expected, the overarching themes were extremely politically poignant.
My only complaint is, while I loved the way characters were built upon from the last novel…I found myself really frustrated at Cole a lot which made me less invested in him, but his actions weren’t things I’d consider to be out of character either.
The ending could be setting up a third installment of Clown in a Cornfield…or not. I enjoyed the ending either way and Quinn’s decision to go vigilante mode If a third book did come out, I’d definitely pick it up, as these books (while not revolutionary) tend to be such fun reads.

I really enjoyed Clown in a Cornfield as a smart piece of YA horror; it was a book that never talked down to its audience but kept its foot on the gas when it came to its slasher elements. So I wasn't surprised per se to find myself in love with Clown in a Cornfield 2: Frendo Lives, but I was very impressed at the framing device Cesare used to expand his universe. Clown in a Cornfield 2 uses its slasher foundation to tell a story about social media disinformation and violent conspiracy theories, and it allows the book to feel even more dangerous than the original - and even more timely.
