Exactly what you’d want and expect.
It’s light on the nostalgia pandering, and it’s a nice exploration of Chief as an aging soldier and as a symbol.

Also Kelly is canonically a Queen fan now which is a great development.

DNF at 66%. Every problem with Denning's writing style is present and significantly worse. So many great ideas and a handful of good scenes wasted. Take a drink every time you see 'lechatelierite'. You'll be comatose within 50 pages.

I had to stay up late to finish this one before Infinite comes out today, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Far more tactical than other Halo books I have read, but I really liked that. I also thought it was fun to see Blue Team fully reunited and back in action - I hope they don't completely vanish in Infinite. Overall a pretty enjoyable read and good information in the timeline for something that happens after Halo 5.

My first foray into Halo lore, I must admit a little sheepishly. But I got precisely what I wanted - a story that conveys the fun of the game and the mystery of its setting. Set me up great for Halo Infinite.
