Check your trigger warnings. I don't mind a check-your-brain-at-the-door book, but this was a bit much. Almost to the point of parody, but then includes a decent amount of heavy stuff. Not for me.

I couldn't get into this book, the writing could get repetitive and it was pretty slow. The descriptions and writing style didn't click with me but it was a nice, light sci-fi romance. I will try the next one because I like these tropes/stories even if I don't connect with the heroine.

This was over all very cute and recommendable, but a few little things upset me so that's why it's not a 5 stars.

Though not my favorite alien romance, it is well-written with decent world-building. I plan to read the next in the series because I think I'll find it a little more exciting.

I was frustrated with the actions of the characters and wished the plot was a little more exciting. Most of the story takes place at Theo's house, which I thought was a little boring. The action doesn't ramp up until very close to the end.

I didn't like how Theo treated Jade in the beginning and how long it took him to get over thinking she might be a spy. I wish more explanation or background had been given for his fear about her being a spy. We're told he was a mercenary and he might have enemies, but I felt like there could have been more given for how adamantly he refused to believe this rare human woman wanted to be with him, especially since it seems like he's basically not working much any more anyway.

When Jade is told about this alien society, they make it sound like women are revered and taken great care of, but most of the actions throughout the story don't match up to that in my opinion. I'm hoping the other books will have male characters that are a bit more like cinnamon rolls or golden retrievers because that's how I like my alien boyfriends.
