Such a cute little story! I cried, so automatic 5 stars.

It got quite a bit slow towards the middle, but the ending with Marcellus was so touching! I cried, it was very sweet and I have a newfound love of octopi (cue me looking up fun octopus facts? We'll see :D). There were quite a few laugh-out-loud moments for me also, and we all know that I'm such a sucker for grumpy old widow/er meets found family and becomes optimistic that life can and will be good again... throw in a marine animal and sorry babes but I'm sold!!

Also, I just finished Ugly Betty & I was like... Marc St James, is that you?? Michael Urie was so perfect for Marcellus :)

This book was so good. I enjoyed Marcellus. The way grief was talked about was tender and real.

Loved the ending! I’m all for a found family. The twist on what the actual titles about was nice! Marcellus, you just could see everything while all the humans got lost in the forest with all the trees. Happy Cam got himself together and found a family he always wanted and needed and Tova got the ending she deserved! Will definitely recommend to others who want a feel good story.

This is such a beautiful story, that I’m going to cherish for a very long time. As an animal lover, it gave me an even deeper appreciation and understanding for octopuses. I smiled, pondered, laughed, and cried in turns throughout this book. It balanced exploring serious subjects, such as grief and abandonment, with celebrating life—both human and animal—and love in its many forms—familial, platonic, and romantic.

The reflections that I came away with will stay with me for some time. I can already see myself revisiting this beautiful story later in life, as its message is timeless. Respect all life forms, embrace love, and hug your loved ones tight while you can.

Such a sweet, wholesome, feel good story. I really wish we got more chapters from Marcellus. He was the best part of the book besides Tova 🥹❤️

I loved that the title ended up being what Marcellus thinks of humans instead of the other way around 🥰
