Rowan Kingsley… what a fucking romantic. The way he loved Violette and Hollie 🤌🤌
I struggled with book 2 of Sky Ridge Hotshots, mostly because it was so wordy and pretty slow placed.. but Rowan made it all worth it.
I’m glad he got his second chance with Violette. Their connection was so genuine when they were younger and I’m glad he was able to redeem himself. He truly stepped up to the plate to be the man Violette and her daughter needed.
“The way I love you is as unstoppable as flames coming over a mountain. I could never fight it.” -Rowan

Paisley Hope absolutely nailed it with Protect! This book gave me everything I love in a second-chance romance—angst, emotional depth, and a hero who’s equal parts swoon-worthy and filthy. Rowan Kingsley might just be the golden retriever MMC of my dreams, and Violette? She’s a single mom with a backbone of steel who totally stole my heart.
The Story
Rowan and Violette have a complicated history. They were high school sweethearts, madly in love, but a devastating breakup left them both shattered. Fast forward years later, and Violette is back in town with her adorable 4-year-old daughter, Hollie, after a divorce. Rowan, who’s been carrying the weight of losing Violette and his best friend Jacob (her twin brother) in a tragic wildfire, ends up in her care after a work injury. Cue all the tension, unresolved feelings, and slow-burn goodness you could ever want.

What I Loved
I loved Rowan and Violette. I’m not usually big on second chance romance but this was great. It had all the swoony parts of a single mom trope where the man just adores her kid and steps in where the bio father fails, they dealt with their mutual trauma and grief in mature ways, and clearly they belonged together. I have had a great time with this shared universe and these characters and I’ll definitely be checking out the third one.

I cried happy and sad tears. I love this mix of interpersonal conflict and actual danger with the wildfires. A sweet second chance romance with a single mom and hot MMC? Yes to all of it.

i never felt like i wanted to pick this book up so i stopped trying to force myself to get into it. this has happened with a couple of this author’s other books, so maybe it’s just not the right fit.

Again a man who knows what he wants and won’t stop until he gets it, is one of the sexiest things ever. Was glued to this book all day. Great plot, enjoyed the small glimpses into the other side characters. Didn’t think the car crash with Troy was necessary, but sure🤷🏻♀️. Only thing I would change is I wish the epilogue was further into the future, to see if Rowan and Violette have kids and what their future actually looks like.
