Between the plot misses and some problematic language choices/references this book was not for me. The few small editing inconsistencies (is this child three or four?) pushed me over the edge.

🧡 Slow burn

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Narration: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Welp. I’m in love. With this book, with these characters, with these narrators, and with this author. My gosh. This story, to me, is a slow burn, a second chance romance that catches fire when the MCs finally get together! It isn’t an easy journey. The two have a past with loss and heartache to navigate through. Revelations are made, growth happens, and sparks Absolutely fly throughout the entire book! It is so good! And what takes this book to the next level is the phenomenal performance by Gideon Frost and Samantha Brentmoor! They encapsulated the essence of these characters with such incredible skill! This is an audiobook you Definitely need to add to your TBL!

Rowan is a Hotshot taming fires for a living. He has seen and felt devastation, the latter being the loss of his best friend to the flames he spends his life taming. That is a loss that has never left him, just like losing the one that got away. Not because of death, but because from never speaking the truth of what happened five years ago. Violet also knows loss, after all she lost her twin brother to the blazes he fought for a living. Even before that she lost the love of her life. He used her. He lied to her. And she’s never been the same since. She left town only to return for her brother’s funeral, and then years later after her divorce. It seems powers beyond her control were guiding her back home and in close proximity to the one that broke her heart.

My goodness I loved Rowan and Violet so much. They had such amazing chemistry and banter. The spice? Oh yeah, it was spicin! This isn’t a book to fly through, but to savor and ruminate with. I really enjoyed the first book in this interconnected series, but this story resonated with me on a deeper level. And I love that for me 🤣 No, seriously, this book has revelations, growth, sweetness, spiciness, support, thoughtfulness, and so much more. I don’t want to ruin it for anyone by giving too much away, so just know that it’s absolutely worth the read/listen!

Anyone that knows me would know by now that Samantha Brentmoor is my favorite female narrator. She is a LadyBoss to the highest power, crushing every narration performance with her massive talent and supreme skill. This audiobook is no exception. Brentmoor embodied Violet, and of course Hollie, to a T, making me was not listen non stop! And to have Gideon Frost opposite her? OMG. What an amazing duo!! I know I’ve listened to Frost before, but my gosh! He was, whew 😮‍💨. I felt like he WAS Rowan, embracing every facet of this character and aiding in the whole “me falling in love with a fictional character” situation. And let me tell you…I was HERE FOR IT! What an absolute banger of an audiobook!

Thank you so much Paisley Hope and Must Love Audio for allowing me to listen and review this title! This book makes 9283793284 on my “Favorite New to Me Author/Book” list, brought to you by the letters M and L and A. 😂 Oh and I can’t leave out Lyric Audio for their production hand in my ongoing obsession. You, yet again, produced a phenomenal audiobook. So, give yourself an obnoxiously big hug from me. 🤗

🔥“And if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that you rarely get second chances in life, so if this is the universe giving me one, I’m taking it.”
🩺“Goddamn, I’ve missed the sound of my name on your lips… say it again.”
🔥“Don’t let me fall alone, Kingsley.” “Impossible. I’ll be right there with you.” I kiss her back. “And I have all the time in the world.” It’s the most honest thing I’ve ever said to anyone, because I fell for Violette Taylor ten years ago, and I never got back up.”
🩺“Because you feel like my center Vi. You bring me peace, but Christ, all I want to do is f*** you like we’re at war.”
🔥“I’m going to f***ing devastate this p***y, and when I’m done Violette, you’ll be thanking me for giving you exactly what you’ve missed for ten years.”
🩺“Come for me, Violette, show me what a pretty sight it is when you drip down my c***.”
🔥“Good girl, then eyes up here while I f*** your throat.”
🩺“Every second I had to wait for you was worth it, Violette,”
🔥“Let me be your twin flame, love.”
🩺“The way I feel at the thought of you ever belonging to another man isn’t jealousy…” He slides his hand down my center. “It’s anger, love,” he continues in a whisper. “It’s wrath.”
