Loved Macon and Brooklyn! I liked how he went after what he wanted without giving up. It gave me a little bit of made in manhattan vibes and I loved that movie. He sees her dancing in the club and when they look at each other, that’s the endgame. However, they both have secrets that may not allow them to move forward together. He was the perfect gentleman, possessive, and with a moth
I was extremely impressed with the narrators for this novel. With dual POV and both a male and female narrators, I felt they really were able to breathe life into this stormy.
Macon, to me, wasn’t your typical billionaire bad boy. I will say he was a teeny tiny bit full of himself and his *ahem* capabilities (not that he didn’t deliver) in the beginning, as was expected. That being said, it did kind of give me the ick how full of himself he was. BUT he really was humble in his own way. He worked hard for what he had, he took care of Brooklyn (in all aspects ) and was never braggy about his wealth, which is normally a big thing in billionaire books. “I have money, I’m going to toss it around and you’re going to like it”. Not Macon. Macon said let me take care of you because it makes me happy.
I never felt a hug power imbalance with Macon and Brooklyn, and I loved that. Macon made Brooklyn feel like his equal from the start. Side note: we love a girl was a sassy mouth giving a man a run for his money. Brooklyn was full of spunk and wasn’t taking anyone’s crap and I live and breathe that. Give me a strong female lead and I’m sold.
There were times where I felt like this wasn’t the first novel in the series. I stopped reading and had to look and see because some things were said in a way that made me feel like I had missed something. I will definitely be looking to see if this novel is connected in some way with another. The combination of this and the ick vibes I got from braggy Macon in the beginning are the reasoning behind my three star rating.
If billionaire romance is your vibe, I would still definitely recommend you check out The Playboy by Marni Mann!

Marni Mann's writing shines in The Playboy, the first book in the new Spade Hotel series.
Macon vowed to be a playboy after being brokenhearted by his high school sweetheart. Brooklyn is a senior college student letting loose nightly on the dance floor. Instantly, Macon is captivated by the tiny dancer, needing her to be his. Brooklyn's got some secrets and hesitations. Will she be able to stay away from the playboy?
Marni Mann was one of my favorite author discoveries in 2022 and I adore that she brought back some of my favorite characters for cameos in The Playboy. Macon is the typical Marni Mann brooding yet falling first hero that has you on your toes while Brooklyn is the "take no f's" heroine. I enjoyed the text messages dispersed throughout and felt the narrators (Tor Thom and Savannah Peachwood) nailed this section. Macon calling Brooklyn his "tiny dancer" was cute and you could tell he was head first in love- with some "my wife" references. As always, Mann delivers in the spice (this actually may be her spiciest yet). I cannot wait to see where she goes with the rest of the series!
Thank you Valentine PR and Dreamscape Media for my alc/arc in exchange for my honest review.
****I'm chatting with Marni January 10th on instagram- thanks Valentine PR- and CANNOT wait. That did not influence this review. ****

Spicy billionaire, Cinderella romance.
I’ve been waiting for this Brothers series since Marni first introduced them in The Dalton Brothers books. We start with Macon who gets his little heart completely shattered at 21. He decides live and relationships aren’t for him and he’s committing to the playboy lifestyle. Then we have Brooklyn. A 22 year old recent college grad who is trying to prove herself and fulfill her goals. They meet at a club and have an incredibly hot (and very detailed) hook-up. No names or numbers exchanged. However, Macon cannot stop thinking about this mystery woman and he returns to the club and things start to get wild. The chase kind of vibe in this book was so fun and sexy. I could not believe how much I giggling. Then there’s the spice. Listen, if you’ve read Marni before, you know. She does God tier kind of spice and this book was no exception. Absolute fire. The growth between these two characters as a couple but also as individuals was really my favorite part. Yes the spice and romance are great, but because their story started off slower with some baggage, it was so rewarding to see them succeed in every way possible. Highly recommend reading The Dalton Brothers series so you can meet some of supporting characters but it’s in no way required to start as this is a brand new series and I think it’s going to be fantastic. Cannot wait for the next brother’s book.
I ADORED this book! A spinoff of the Dalton Family series that I already obsessed over, I can tell that the Spade Hotel series is going to top it! The elements of the story that I loved I loved: reformed playboy/fiercely independent FMC, opposites attract, he falls first, billionaire, and a beautiful setting. I repeat HE FALLS FIRST. He swore off relationships because of his past but when he sees her letting off steam in a club one night, he obsesses over her. Meanwhile she puts up her barriers because she just wants to keep her head down and focus on her success. When they do come together, their chemistry is amazing and their banter is so fun! Macon and Brooklyn are *chef's kiss*. I can't wait to see where the rest of the series takes us!
