Incredible. The pandemic depiction is so uncannily accurate that I spent the first half of the book assuming it had been published sometime in the summer of 2020 at earliest. Unexpectedly emotional in places. The way the story weaves from past to present is beautiful.

Decent book
I like the style of her memories meeting up with her present day situation and I found it interesting  to read
The book was kind of depressing but in like a thoughtful kind of way bc it made u think abt <how her mum worked all her life so that Candace could work all her life and Candace staying in the office until the last minute was sad bc she hadn’t had time in her day to day life before the fever to make several meaningful relationships and to do the things she wanted to do>
<I liked the idea of the fevered getting caught in a cycle of doing things they would often do in their daily lives it’s sad for some people like the one who was just sat making calls at work as opposed to the mum who was setting the dishes out for her family to dinner>
<The ending was a bit boring but what can u expect from an apocalypse kind of book tbf>

For me, this book fell flat a lot of the time for me. While it had moments where I was heavily invested, I felt like the story meandered around a lot of the time. I enjoyed the metaphorical and speculative aspects of the book but ultimately I didn't enjoy it as much as I hoped.
