I began reading this to start off my sudden interest in the works of Kurt Vonnegut. Before reading any author, I like to read a little about their life so that I know what subconsciously drives their writing. I found that this book does the job.
The soliloquy at the beginning of the book and the end of the book about Vonnegut’s writing is poorly written with a lot of incomprehensible run-on sentences. But the essay-like telling of Vonnegut through the years gives a brief understanding of each of his works and his reasons for writing each novel. It was just what I wanted before delving further into Vonnegut. And it was written very succinct and much better than the first chapter. If someone is looking for that type of experience, I would recommend this book.
