This book is amazing, it helps you grow to learn about Jesus more, and tells the stories of some very faithful followers he had. This will help strengthen your testimony in God. I recommend it highly to everyone.

Just finished reading the Doctrine and Covenants as a family.

When you read this book and turn around and teach it to others, you have a different perspective. It isn't just nice reading; it's doctrine that needs to be understood well enough to bring others to an understanding.

The Doctrine and Covenants is a manual of revelations from God given to Joseph Smith on how to build His church, with very few complete stories in it. But the doctrines bring to light the same doctrines found in the Bible and Book of Mormon, adding details and insights that ultimately help us understand God, and his ways, that much better. And isn't that what we want: to understand better?

Really gave me a lot to consider about the church and its doctrine. #exmormon

There are several fun stories in here. But overall, for a man on drugs he could have written better.

Read out of interest in studying Mormonism and other religions.

its racist and has lots of plagiarism from 1800 books and the bible. the views and language usage of this book are clearly written from an 1800s person rather than the acclaimed biblical time frame. its rather violent throughout most of the story and paints a rather terrifying message over and over again: murder in the name of god.

The Book of Mormon (along with the Bible and Doctrine and Covenants) contains the purest truth ever written, and is the anchor that makes my life joyful and brings my soul to Christ.

(This review is for the Book of Mormon. I've read the others, but not this year [2018])

This isn't the type of book that I normally like. There is a lot of killing. There are wars, especially at the end.

There ARE moral messages, which I do like. I especially love the messages from when Jesus Christ teaches the people.

I've read it so many times--at least dozens--on my own and with family, that I don't even know what my initial reaction would be if I were reading it for the first time.

However, there is always something new I can learn from it. This time around, I made more connections between stories and sermons, since I read more than one chapter at a time. I have grown a lot since I read it as a child, teenager, and college student, and reading it again now--with a mind open to improvement--I see things that I didn't see before and I understand things in a way I didn't before.

If you want to read it for curiosity's sake, it is interesting enough to read at least once.

If you want to read it to understand more about Jesus Christ, I would encourage you to pray before reading and to try to have an open mind as you read.
