This was a really interesting look at Black British culture, using language as a jumping off point. Boakye takes a list of different labels, from official descriptors and terms of endearment to derogatory and loaded terms and explores how they relate to history and pop culture. It's mostly light in tone but also delves into heavy topics, as you'd expect. I thought it was well written and I liked how he discussed his own experiences alongside academic research.
