I hate to say it but this book just felt all over the place to me. I had been looking forward to this book for a while, but I just felt like some things were just dropped in, with no explanation that made the plot even more complicated. I felt like there were a lot of characters but no backstory to them. There were parts in the book where there was supposed to be a major plot twist, but I had forgotten how that character is related to the story because they weren't the main focus. There are also parts in the story that I felt were hard to really tell if the plot was fast paced or if there is just too many things happening at once. Because this book is a standalone, I felt like there could have been more worldbuilding. In the past I have enjoyed this author but this one wasn't what I thought it would be.
