not a full 5 star read because it’s only the beginning of the series and i’m expecting the following books to be even better, but i honestly can’t think of anything i didn’t like while reading (except for the shallan situation, but i understand it’s a subjective opinion and it was actually what the plot needed, i guess). i can’t wait to see kaladin and adolin interacting so i can finally queercode them 🥰 and, I LOVE DALINAR!!!!!

Though this book took me months to finish, the groundwork Sanderson lays out for you indeed comes full circle. The characters are enjoyably balanced with their own rounded personalities and histories. The history and magic are elaborate but intriguing. The story itself is fulfilling and leaves you wanting more. I recommend the audiobook, especially when switching perspectives!

I thought this book was stunning! It took me a long time to get through it but it was definitely worth it. Even though it is a long book, it is well paced and didn't feel that it dragged (but the mammoth size of the book does make it feel like it is a slow read) and as I was nearing the end, I didn't want it to finish.

I thought most of the way through whilst I was reading that I would take a break from Sanderson when I finished this (so far this year I have read Mistborn 1-6, Elantris and Warbreaker)
