Honestly, this was just a mess and these two shouldn’t even be in the same country. I agree with Bridget about Magnolia and BJ trauma bonding as kids and not being able to let each other go whatsoever. They constantly hurt each other, then acknowledge they hurt each other, then kiss and make-up and then go home and wax poetic about they are soulmates and all that but then go and do things that they know will mess up the relationship more and the cycle continues. I was honestly so tired by the end. What these two, no actually, the entire friend group needs is therapy and no allowances from their parents and education so that they grow up. The writing while at the start is beautiful, Jessa Hastings uses that one quote so many times, it gets annoying by the end. And not to forget how Jessa has presented herself on social media these last few months. That in itself is a big turn off for me but I do own her books, so I will read them regardless (I never learn).

This book is about Magnolia Parks, a young London socialite and her complicated relationship with her ex BJ. The books is in duel perspectives from Magnolia to BJ. I personally didn’t enjoy this book. I didn’t enjoy the CONSTANT cheating and going back to the same toxic patterns in a relationship at all, with the excuse of being love, couldn’t agree with that. Also thought the FMC Magnolia was self righteous and shallow. Couldn’t wait to finally stop hearing about how much her and BJ love each other and the tragedy of them not being able to respect themselves enough to walk away from a situationship.

This was….a slow and at times painfully boring read because it basically circled around the same thing over and over again. The characters were very shallow, flawed, toxic and not really relatable; however, I enjoyed Hastings’ writing of the inner thoughts and emotional musings of the different POV’s. We get to explore the bonds between the characters as It delves into the intricacies of relationships between family,
exes, casual acquaintances and friends - which is at times touching and at other times a complete dumpster fire which in turn can have some unexpected twists in their circle.
I’m not sure that I will continue reading this series, but if you enjoy emotional reads, exploring character development, and relationships (and have the patience to do so!) more than an actual plot, you will probably enjoy this book, otherwise you may find yourself bored to tears.
