Although it too me a while to get used to his style of writing, I can now say that I understand why Hemingway's books are such classics. His descriptions are beautiful and the way he writes is poetic. I fell in love with his characters and the unconventional way in which they speak to each other. A Farewell to Arms is definitely going back onto my bookshelf to be read again.

Brilliant and Poignant, One of the most gripping books I have ever read. It is impossible to keep away from praying for the characters as we go along. Of men and their arms and the world of war. Such beautifully depicted is the book that its impossible to put down.

A book full of hope and promise that just crashes and burns in the end. See "The Silver Linings's Playbook" for the dialogue Pat has on this book (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJeEVVYV8xE). My sentiments exactly.

There are so many conflicting opinions on this, but I thoroughly enjoyed reading this novel. Yes, Catherine is eccentric and a bit tiring when you are first introduced to her, but I grew to love her just as Frederic did. The ending of the book is worth the entire read, though I know some thought it was pretentious, I still stick with my love for Hemingway's works.
