The Raven Boys is not what I thought it was going to be. I figured it was going to turn into a YA paranormal romance and really it’s not, this is a paranormal fantasy with a little bit of romance that you expect to show up in human lives. This is a slower going book; it does not suffer for it though. The basic premise is a treasure hunt that is much more. We get hints that our characters are more complex than just the typical teen archetypes we see so often in these YA books. So far it’s holding my interest and intrigue.

It was Okay . It was SO slow some said that it took them 50 pages to get into it others said 100 . But why in the world did take me 200 until I was into it ?!
anyway it's not bad but I didn't LOVE it
I was very shocked at some points
and I thought that more could have happened
maybe I'll read The Dream Thief but not sure when

I thought this book was just wonderful. It had many themes that I personally really love; magical, unexplained locations with lots of mystery, witchcraft and fortune-telling, and of course the great execution of the found-family trope.
The friendship Blue has with all of the Raven boys is so wonderful. And I'm just glad this book wasn't as heavy on the romance as I expected. It felt like a wonderful exploration of friendship, with each character feeling really tangible and real.
The writing style was very beautiful, but easy to understand. I think the timing of the multiple perspectives were also timed really well. It just suited the story in my opinion!
I see other people writing about the story being a little slow sometimes, but that's personally something I enjoy in books ;)

I'm really excited to see where the rest of this series will be going. I feel like there's still much left to be explored in the next few books!
