This is a solid mystery that had me guessing throughout. There were many different suspects explored and ways this could have ended. Furthermore, once I thought the twist was that
Andie Bell was alive
, the story pivots to find that
not only is it not her, but there is a second murderer and messenger
. There is a domino effect of actions and consequences that have led to
her death
, and points explored earlier now have even more meaning. Not without its necessary red herrings, the pieces of the mystery fall into place and leave Pip and Ravi with a
satisfying conclusion for the case
.

The US adaption is done quite well, as I probably would not have noticed the changes had I already known. There were some instances that I found myself outside of the story pondering how they must have Americanized certain aspects and how they chose to keep some British leanings the same (i.e fall break in October).

There was a certain plot point that shocked me and had me pausing though, surprised that a more lighthearted mystery story would do this. The
death of her dog
felt unnecessary to me. I understand raising the stakes and the gravity of it for Pip, but as
an animal lover
it just didn’t sit right with me, even if it was discovered to be
an accident after all
.

Though there are two more books to this series, this first can be read as a standalone mystery novel. I don’t feel a necessary pull to read the next two, but I liked the story enough and am curious to see what new mysteries Pip finds herself involved in. Looking forward to watching the screen adaptation as well.

Sooo where should I start??? I love this book, instant 5 star read.
It had me at the edge of my seat, I was so invested and made a lot of own theories.
I was gasping, grinning, being shocked and all of the emotions
I like how the book was build up with the interviews in between and how you get more and more information step by step and it was good there always was a suspect list so you don't forget so fast.
I like that all characters feel like real persons, that they're relatable.
I like Pippa, she's a very interesting, quirky character, and I like Ravi, he's funny. I like the banter between them.
The end was so unexpected, I was shocked, I was sitting there for like an hour with my hand over my mouth, crying, closing the book in between and screaming. I absolutely didn't expect that the book will end the way it did.
Wow, just thank you for such a good book.

Ugh, I’m so glad I finally read this after years of it being recommended to me! It 1000% lived up to the hype. I loved the main characters, the fun formatting of the book, the writing, the humour, and the unpredictability of the plot. There were so many moving pieces in the story, and I think the author is a genius for how she made it work out so cleanly. The only reasons it’s not a full 5 stars for me are that (a) Pip can be a bit (very) ridiculously stubborn at times, and (b) I was never pushed to the point of tears or throwing my book. I still loved it and am very happy with the ending.

This is a book that everyone should read. This is a must read if you are a beginner.
This book actually got me out of a reading slump. This was actually a page turner. This is so good. So many twists and turns after each chapter. The plot twists made me insane.
The characters in the book ; there were characters in this book that I hate to the core and also I love to the core.
Especially Max Hashtings. He us a moron. He knew sal didn't murdered Andy, but he kept telling that Sal was the murderer. I hate Sal's friends. No matter whatever their reason was, they betrayed him. Sal was innocent. And Sal was murdered. I felt very sad and I cried. The way that bastard Elliot explained how he killed Sal, my heart was aching for Sal. How could he fo that to Sal. Sal loved and believed Elliott. And for the killer of Andie I was shocked that it was her own sister Becca. But I won't completely hate her, because she had valid reasons. But she had the audacity to call Sal the killer, even she knew it was her. I hate her for that.

And tbe chemistry between Pip and Ravi. OMG!They are so sweet. The way Ravi calling Pip "𝗦𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲". Eventhough there wasn't a romantic scene like in every book ; like no butterflies in stomach and confessions and more kisses something like that. But we could feel their love that they have for each other.
And the way Pip's dad Victor calling her, "𝗣𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗹𝗲". I love her family.
Overall, this book was a great book for me. I loved Holly Jackson's style of writing. With production logs, Interview formats and diary entries, Everything make exciting to read this book. I loooovvvveddd it. I think every thriller book needs any of this things like case diaries or production logs or diary entries so that it could be fun to read for the readers.
I am looking forward to the second book. I am so excited. I am looking forward to read more of Holly Jackson's books..
Thank you for this book ❤️.
