The first half of this book was absolutely gripping. The second half was pretty good too, but just lacked the same urgency.

I liked this installment as much as the second one, but it didn't quite reach how much I loved the first. By the way, this will probably be a shorter review than my usual just because this series has been great consistently, and I simply don't have a lot to say that's new.

We've met both Seth and Cohen before, Cohen as a teammate in CU's hockey team and Seth as Foster's brother (from book 1). There was even a hint about them in the second book. Turns out, it's because they'd been chatting with each other online for months, without knowing each other's identity. So yeah, the first half of the book takes place alongside the events of book 2. Though there's almost no overlap of events, so it's not an issue. And I loved the first half.

You see, both Cohen and Seth are trying to figure out their sexuality. They meet via an app and don't exchange. For Seth, it's because he thinks he's demisexual. He wants the chance to get to know someone before he brings appearances into it.

That's the first 45% of the novel, Seth and Cohen connecting online. And it's perfect. I loved their chats, and I loved their connection. I'm also a total sucker for romances that start via or include written communication, whether it's letters, emails or texts. Not to mention, slow burns are awesome, and no one will convince me otherwise.

The latter half of the book is also great, even if I didn't love it as much as the first half. It's more focused on the team, families, the future of their relationship, etc. All of that is also important, and it was done well. And really, I enjoyed the whole book. It was hilarious, sweet, charming, a bit angsty on Seth's side, but overall great. And I definitely recommend checking out the book and the series.
