This book feels like something straight from Wattpad, written by some 15 year old girl who's never experienced anything vaguely romantic in her life. Not a single one of the characters is likeable (except for Manny, who honestly deserves so much better). Misha serves to remind me of why I am terrified of men. His theme song might as well be Norman fucking Rockwell by Lana Del Rey. And oh my god, I can not read another 'romance' where the characters just hate-fuck a couple times and decide they're in love without sharing even a single positive moment with each other. I can't do it. I'm going insane.

It's a shame, because I wanted to like this book. I'd heard mixed things, but from what I'd heard about the plot it sounded like something I would enjoy, or at least be interested in. I was not interested. I was either annoyed or outright bored for at least 75% of this book, and that's being generous.

I do want to give the dark romance genre another shot though, so if anyone has any recommendations that are not as god awful as this book, send them my way.

I was going to give this book 2 ⭐ because the characters were so toxic but I think Ryen developed a lot, and her letter at the end added a special touch. I went into this blind but would suggest if you want to read this look up the triggers first.

This book was my friendly reminder not to get book recomendations from the "popular on tiktok" section of chapters...
The first bit was good but it soon turned into a big mess of second hand embarrassment.
Only reason I even finished was because I'm stubborn.
The relationship is really rape-y and forceful. Along with the entire plot just being rushed. Technically there is "character development" but the characters just wake up one day after being so stubborn and decide to change.
Very disappointing read.
Gave it 1.25 stars because I annotated it and being able to write how much embarrassment I was recieving made it much more enjoyable.

I've seen multiple TikToks about this book also about what a great book boyfriend Misha is so I was intrigued and due to the pretty good Amazon reviews, I decided to buy this book. Misha is far from being the perfect boyfriend and Ryen is also shit. I've never hated both main characters so much. At least Ryen knows that she's not great, even though that is one of her major problems. She is so insecure that she has to bully others to feel like she belongs. Misha on the other hand sure thinks he's perfect and he's gaslighting Ryen all the time because she does not fit into his picture of her. He doesn't give s*** about consent: Ryen says multiple times no but he doesn't f****** care because he thinks he knows what's best for her. Moreover, he's so disappointed that Ryen does not fit his perfect picture of her that he's constantly trying to change her and calls her out all the time at school. I don't get why they start f****** each other because they seem to hate each other so much and right, I might understand a little why Ryen acts this way but no idea why Misha is making Ryen's life so unbelievably hard, especially because he knows she is his best friend! He is also pretty horrible to all other female characters. I was already triggered when his sister went for run at night which caused him to get super super super protective and him not wanting to allow her to go out for run. I mean it was obvious something's going to happen just to prove him right. I still hate it how he behaves, I know that boys are supposed to be cool and sexy but I was just so annoyed by Misha and his charades. I do not recommend reading this book it was a waste of time. I was hoping he might redeem himself, however, he just stayed the toxic way he was. He and Ryen stayed both crappy until the last page.

Bullying. So much bullying. Also I had no idea how many nsfw scenes this book had so was I skipping them, because they didn't really serve the plot, as I did that I realized I was skipping 70% of the scenes. Also they are kids, I don't understand the need to write books/movies/tv shows with teens having sex like this.
