This book wasn’t my favourite. I did enjoy the Darkling until I learned he was the villain and now I’m kinda shook. Alina and Amal I’m not sure if I enjoy them yet but I’ll continue on and see what happens for sure. I did enjoy this book and the world building. I’m looking forward to see where this can go

4.5/5 rounded down. Leigh Bardugo is such an amazing storyteller! I listened to this on audio and binged this in a day! Intricate worldbuilding, distinctive and endearing characters, interesting plot. However, the turning point in the storyline wasn't very believable. Some random woman (technically not random, but not a main character) tells Alina about the Darkling's plans and she just runs with it? We're given no other proof or background info other than the word of this woman. Hmmmm.

But I'm still excited to begin book 2!
