A lot better than the first book.
I was significantly less frustrated with the characters and overall plot, though I still have my qualms.
I’m so glad we are away from Tamlin for the majority of the book, as I really did not like him in the first book and highly disliked his actions in the beginning of the second. I even extremely hate him for the last part of the book as well. I only really missed Lucien, but I was really surprised and upset by him a lot of the time he was in scene.

I really love all the new characters we’re introduced to from the Night Court; they all have their own motivations that feel realistic, but in our reality and a fantasy setting. They feel properly fleshed out for the most part. The relationships between each of them also feel plausible, along with how they came to be.
The descriptions of the settings were pretty good and felt pretty immersive, especially since similar are often used in visual medias already so I could easily refer to something I’ve already seen to visualize the surroundings.
It’s not the best written thing I’ve read, but certainly a lot better than the first book, so that’s why I’ve rated it higher but not much higher than the first book.

So many thoughts. I went into this not loving the characters and not 100% sure if I was going to like the rest of this series.
I’m happy to say that I was wrong and that I have a new found respect for Feyre and for Rhysand.

Also soooo much PTSD and caring reactions to it.

That being said, I still found a brand new loathing for Tamlin. I hadn’t loved him in the first book but didn’t hate him either. I was ambivalent about him and didn’t like him with Feyre in particular.
In this book, hate is pretty accurate.

In the first book, I didn’t love Feyre either but I guess it just proves that the people around you influence you.

This book had interesting plots and beautiful character development. I love the found family and the action scenes too.
The last 20% of the book was epic and wonderful.

I can’t even put into words what this book has done to me…honestly it’s a 10 star read - I can’t stop thinking of the characters!

"It'd just been a relief to think that for a moment, [Rhysand] might have been as lonely as me." - Feyre

Wow! How is the second book in the series better than the first? I did not expect any of what happened to happen.

Rhysand was probably the biggest curveball for me. I didn't expect him to be so caring and
he sacrificed so much for his people and those close to him.
It was so heartbreaking when he talked about Under The Mountain, yet he still found time to be there for Feyre when
she was struggling with her nightmares.

I can't believe I would say this, especially after reading the entirety of book one, but
Fuck Tamlin, I could not believe him. From the beginning, he acted like he wasn't awake as Feyre puked her brains out!

The ending wasn't what I expected and I am shook on what will happen next! I think I might need a moment before I start the next book because I need to mentally prepare myself!

This was my favorite book out of the whole series. Did it put me into an emotional spiral? A little bit, yes. I think it did a great job at portraying how depressed and broken Feyre was after being UTM and being with a man that used fucking as a solution. Then we get chapter 54 and 55?? oooooooooOoo mah gawd. Beautiful, muah. This book left me on such a cliffhanger that I immediately went and bought the next book. 10/10 loved it
