Penny Reid doesn’t disappoint with her writing and endearing characters, you can't help but love. Abby and Rex story is slow burn marriage of convenience and enjoyed their romance from beginning to end. It's was giving vibes of The Wall of Winnipeg and Me and Billy Winston and Scarlet from Beard With Me.
This is fantastic start if new series and I can't wait for more.

I loved this book so much! So much! Like I may need to go back and give the other books I read fewer stars so this one truly stands out.
I'm a tall girl so a 6'1" female lead had me from the start. So many layers in the characters kept me going. I was nervous to try a new Pennyverse because I love the KITC and Winstons so much but this may have even surpassed them. The complex characters with layers and back stories and so many laugh out loud lines. I'm never as eloquent in reviews as I'd like to be but seriously, read it!

This book made me lol so many times, also… I could only picture Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce as Abby and Rex! They are so similarly described it was so cute and made the story extra fun

I have recently had the urge to re-read Penny Reid and my favorite series of hers, Knitting in the City. However, I didn't want to add another series to my re-reading list, specially one I had already finished. Instead, I saw that I had totally missed this new release of hers so I decided to jump on it! It wasn't as funny as I hoped it would be, that's something I really treasure about her writing style, but I did really like the story. Unfortunately, the romance wasn't as convincing as I hoped. There was something about the male love interest's experience that felt a little sudden to me. However, I think the premise was cute and the whole development of the relationship won me over. I loved the switch up of the "always a bridesmaid" trope and I really liked getting to know the side characters in this book. I am looking forward to the second book in the series!

I haven't read Penny Reid in a while, and I am so glad I picked this up. It was a sweet, funny, and adorably good time.
When Rex, Training Wheels, McMurty walked into Abby's bar, neither of them realized what fate had planned. Rex is down on his luck and slightly drunk when he and abby reunite. It seems he is always a groomsman and never a groom. All of his ex girlfriends marry the next person they date. He also happens to be Abby's lifelong crush, but he doesn't remember or recognize her. And since Rex ends up drunk as a skunk at Abby's bar under her watch, she drives him home, or at least tries to.
This is a fake relationship, marriage of convenience, kind of insta-love story. Usually, those stories aren't my jam, but this was done well. And it made me laugh several times out loud. I like grumpy Rex. I really enjoyed Abby, although she did at times get on my nerves because she couldn't commit. They had an adorable banter that made reading this a breeze. This takes place right near Halloween and runs into Christmas, and I am trying to focus on Christmas themes primarily until the New Year.
