Loved the artwork but the story wasn’t for me

Simply gorgeous.

The art in this book is beautiful. The story wasn’t very surprising, but I’m hoping the next volume will be better. I will try the next one if for no other reason than to see the art again.

Good, very good. Entertaining story. Can't wait to pick up the second.

Came for the art, stayed for the art, regretted my choice.

The story is wild in a bad way. It’s somehow wacky and generic at the same time.

All the stars are for the art. Skip this one.

2.5 stars. I had heard so much hype for this. And I wanted to like this so much more than I did. But the story was just so confusing and the main character, imo, ended up coming across as whiny. I liked the art a lot and I have a feeling we'll be seeing more of Sam Humphries and Jen Bartel.

Engaging and intriguing. A magical fantasy rooted in family drama with the addition of a brewing war between magical factions. Nina is a extremely interesting and complex character. The gems and magic wasn’t explained extremely well but it seems to be setting up for further explanation in the next volume. I will definitely be continuing this series.
