I think I might actually enjoy novels with dual narration. At first I had trouble with the two main characters' voices sounding so similar in the book, but as the story progresses and the social contexts of their environments began unfolding, their voices got more distinct and it was easier to follow.

I loved the story, the characters are so easy to root for. The bullying that Hani went through, which sparked the whole fake dating idea, felt very relatable to what I've experienced and seen navigating South Asian diasporic challenges. What struck me was how Aisling and Dee would sugar-coat their behavior so that it wouldn't come off as harmful to others - that, and Ishu and Nik navigating a strict household did feel very close to home for me. It felt helpful to see how the author made space for these realities while keeping the overall story to a light-hearted mood. There are many adorable scenes here, as Hani and Ishu discover their truths for themselves and each other, that makes this an enjoyable and thoughtful cozy read.

I really liked this book and read it so fast!

I loved reading about the cultures and religion and learning a bit more about it. I could find myself in Ishu quite often, about not being sure about my feelings, about needing everything to be perfect and about feeling the need to perform and do well.. I’m glad she found Hani and they worked it all out.

I do wish we got a bit more depth on the family situations and a closure on Ishu’s family, but I guess not everyone and everything gets closure.. :/

A lovely cutesie book about exploring your sexuality, friendships and family, but please be aware of the trigger warnings!❤️

you know the book good when you wanna jump inside it and beat somebody up

i hate aisling and dee, i love ishu & nik's dynamic, watching hani get run over (toxic friendship wise) so many times and not being able to do something frustrated me, but then again i couldn't be mad at her because it was realistic

i feel like in the beginning, it was weird because the book started like i already knew these characters. it was jus a bit weird to me but by chap 5 i finally caught on

towards the part where hani didn't have an answer to whether or not she believed ishu, (killed me inside, yes, bc wtf girl) that's where it started to get a liiiittle slow but i guess it was to update us on head girl and the election, but we should've been updated while the book was going on yk? also plot twist when it turned out to be 6 weeks of this entire book??? it felt LONGER omg.
