An unreliable narrator's secrets--which aren't too hard for the reader to guess--are discovered by an equally unreliable quasi-antagonist, whose motives are also fairly obvious. But the writing is good and the world-building is interesting, and I enjoyed reading it and look forward to reading the sequels.

Great book. My favorite in a long time. Sci-Fi all the way, and then you start to wonder if it is? Great, great book.

Probably would've given it a 3.5, rounding up. Couldn't put it down throughout but also feel a bit conflicted about the slightly abrupt ending. Overall would definitely recommend a read and will checkout the follow-up standalones in the same universe.

Excellent immersive science fiction with twisty turns, dark places, and a really good portrayal of a complex mental health problem.

However, if you like all your questions answered and everything tied up with a bow, this book will leave you hanging. An emotional resolution that still left questions and mysteries but still satisfying.

Meh. Religious zealot/hoarder set on another planet does religious zealot/hoarder stuff.

Right away I wasn't sure and I finally gave up around the 80% point thru the book. It written like a YA book. I thought Ren was a one of those smarter than everyone else teenagers. Ren was in a relationship with Suh (maybe). But Suh's grandson shows up. I couldn't figure out how old anyone was. There are a lot flashbacks, and each time I wasn't certain when the story picked up again in the present.
And finally there is some seed secret that the plot is built around. And I gave up caring what it is.

3.5 / 5. It got really, REALLY contrived at the end, and it wrapped up way too quickly.

SpoilerAlso, it was about a hoarder and what happens when the audience of Hoarding gets sucked into the show to help her. It was weird.
