I originally chose to read this book when I did because it had long been on my TBR list and because of its publication date, it was available to instantly download from my local library. It soon became the book I started reading at night because it was interesting enough to keep my attention when I needed to wind down, but not so enthralling that I would stay up late to get to the next chapter. 

My general feeling about this book is that it, like its title character, is fine. I didn’t feel very strongly about anything I read so I am admittedly surprised by all the fanfare attached to it, but it kept me entertained for long enough to finish. 

Eleanor certainly makes for a challenging protagonist, but at the very least, I appreciated her growth over the course of the novel

and I’m glad she was able to find a way to face  the trauma that created the character we as readers were introduced to

I liked the twist at the end about the mom. Imo it was a bit slow and a few pages could’ve been edited out. A book about trauma, loneliness, friendship and a journey of recovery.

Was expecting E and R to end up together tbh, but I think that’s just me being in my romantic reads era
