An interesting book with interesting themes, but not really much else (I.e. not particularly funny, not particularly loveable characters, not hugely a page turner)
I’ve had this book sitting on my shelf for years now and finally got around to it while I breeze through some fun reads. What an enjoyable, perceptive and entertaining read. You see several perspectives personifying race and privilege and watching these unfold along with the story and character development. This story is immersive, believable and really engaging. Such a fun read! But I have to leave out a star because I didn’t really appreciate the ending given the strength of the main character. She didn’t deserve fated to remain in a subservient, lackluster career (joyously).

Was not what I expected at all. Funny to see it all tie together, I did not expect the old high school connection to drive the book. Also really enjoyed the resolution of it all!

I loved this book!! Honestly haven’t been thrilled about any of my 2020 reads but this one I just wrapped up was amazing. Looking forward to following Kiley’s work.
