I enjoyed hearing Max’s backstory. It was a well-written book. I would rate it a 5 because I like the book but I don’t actually like the book because it goes into detail about the abuse Max sees in her home. I do not recommend it to anyone who does not like reading abt that stuff.

i liked that it gave me insight on max’s thoughts and backstory but there wasn’t much else to it.

the ending was so wholesome i was dancing the whole way through and truly ate this shit up.
objectively how good is this? it's actually not badly written so i'll give it that. the author didn't rely too heavily on the shows plot however, this is the only one of the stranger things books that place during the time of the show so i guess i understand why she felt the need to include crucial scenes for max's character. but, i did find those segments a little boring. only when she started to elaborate upon that was it much more engaging.

tw: broken families and children of divorce are clearly a driving topic so if that may be distressing maybe give it a skip
