It's nice to get more background about Max, she's one of my favourite characters in Stranger Things BUT, and it's the inherent flaw to this kind of book, her characterisation doesn't always totally fit the way I see her. It's Max, but it's not MY Max if that makes sense.
That being said, I enjoyed reading it and I cried.

I mean, come on, it's literally season 2 of Stranger Things with more character development of Max, how could it be bad?

So, this book wasn’t as strong as I thought it would be, but it definitely painted a picture as to what Max’s life was like before she moved to Hawkins. A quick read that made me desperate to rewatch the show because A: it’s my favorite show. And B: because season 2 is actually a really good season of the show.
