Cunningham creates a portrait of Provincetown, MA-- a town with a character all its own. I have been to Provincetown many times and this slim volume gave me a better understanding of its history.

Suggest to read if you've ever spent any time in Ptown - you may know must of this history already but Cunningham does an excellent job of distilling the magic of that place into a few short pages woven with poetry of authors who spent significant time there.

A love letter to what sounds like a lovely town. I found the chapter on Life and Death particularly moving and poignant.

I have become a fan of these books which feature an insider's look at a specific destination. I have never been to Cape Cod but one of my best friends recently moved to New England and I thought I should learn more about it. This was an interesting sojourn among the dunes of Provincetown. It has an appeal for because of its off-season persona, but I think that I am a little too introverted and conventional to enjoy its flamboyance.

I picked this up on my own walk through Provincetown at a used bookstore. When I visit a place, I try to pick up a book of poems written in that place. In this case, I picked up Land's End, a word-tour through Provincetown. It functions as a sort of ode. Cunningham's writing is superb, rich in detail and heartfelt and funny comparisons. Some history, some sociology, some geography, all sewn up with tender moments of memoir.

Really enjoyed this travel guide/memoir while vacationing in Cape Cod! Learned a lot and loved the writing style.
