This was a great Nancy Drew mystery. All the little mystery bits tied in nicely.
I kind of missed that George was not part of her pack anymore. I just might watch the TV show this book is a prequel to.

I love the Nancy Drew characters and stories but this was written poorly. I didn't like the mystery either, it wasn't as spooky or bone-chilling as I've come to expect from the show this is supposed to be a "prequel" to.

I really enjoyed this as a spooky mystery book but it didn’t feel like Nancy Drew

I cannot look past the fact that Horseshoe Bay is celebrating the 75th anniversary of Naming Day (which would mean the town was founded/named in the 1940s) but the re-enactment of the first Naming Day depicts events that happened, like, hundreds of years ago. There is even a flashback to the early 40s and Naming Day is already a long-time tradition for the town. If this was the 275th anniversary of Naming Day it would make more sense. How did this book get published without even one person questioning this??

Other than that, this story was... fine. I think what disappointed me the most is that it's inspired by the TV show but, being a prequel, it involved none of the characters we've come to love. George is in it for a split second, but that's it. It would be great to see a story that actually features the TV characters more.
