An incredibly powerful, slim volume of short stories by an incredibly powerful Indigenous activist. If you can listen to the audiobook, I highly recommend it! You can get it on the Libby app through you local library. If you don't know what that is, ask any of your friendly local librarians <3

Simpson uses an exciting blend of music album, poetry, fiction, and memoire to explore her loss of culture and identity, and her relationship with intimacy due to the legacy of colonization.

Intimacy between friends, family, lovers, strangers, and mythical figures all play a large role in these explorations. She says, "we won't know what we've lost or what we're trying to gain, but that's why I'm here to remind you: it's acceptance, intimacy, connection, and love."

Sad and revealing contemporary collection of aboriginal stories and songs.
Some were more moving than others, but that is to be expected.

Interesting, I connected to certain parts more than others. Some of the language is really beautiful, I think the poems were my favourites. I think I could spend more time with this and get more out of it, it’s very nuanced. As usual though, I like Simpson’s thoughts.

What a gifted story teller.

These stories are;

Immersive, vivid, complex, nuanced, entrancing, unapologetic,  emotional, powerful and beautiful.

Being able to sit down and listen to the stories through audio narration added significantly to the experiance.
