Mehh, this book could have been so much more. It's not often I advocate for making a book longer, but this one simply had no time to build to a proper sense of rising dread or emerging malevolence. And the main character was pretty damn stupid, which I hate.

Round…whatever. Finished it on audiobook. Still stick with the 1 star. The characters aren’t great and a simple conversation would solve everything.

Quite boring, not scary, very little character development, very little things happening, a bad attempt at a plot twist and a weak resolution
Graphic: Child death, Confinement, Toxic friendship

Craven Manor
I would probably give this 3.5 stars if that was an option. It was an enticing read that holds some fun horror tropes. I'm not feeling writing a long review for this book but I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a short stay in a slightly creepy house with an ending

that left me happier than I thought it would. Seeing it end with him taking up residence with a ghost and whatever Bran happens to be was wonderful
pretty good for my first “horror” novel. daniel was very likable and there were some good creepy parts

The only truly decent horror story of late. A perfect read for spooky month! The main character, Daniel, gets a job offer as the grounds keeper of what looks like an abandoned mansion. He picks up on it, and moves in. There are some creepy rules, such as never being out between midnight and dawn. The tower room must never be opened. The employer is unseen. Daniel’s cousin Kyle is a dickhead and keeps coming around, messing things up. It’s a thoroughly enjoyable ghost story with an incredibly satisfying ending. Highly recommended!
