Ghosts, old spooky houses and a great mystery
This is my first Darcy Coates novel (I think) and it certainly won’t be my last. Really likeable characters, a good paced storyline and a mystery to solved. It has some genuine creepy bits especially near the start but then became more mystery and action. Would recommend.

Hm.. it's a nice story and an easy read, the main character is pretty likable (despite being a bit too kind and naive) and overall everything is quite nice. But it's a little to flat and straight forward for my taste. Not as atmospheric as I would like to have my haunted house novel. And it's pretty tame, not spooky at all, kinda more like a little fairytale, which is not negative per se, but yeah.. a bit more atmosphere would've been nice.
My trip into horror and I loved it. I saw the cover and read the blur and became immediately intrigued. I haven't read a lot of horror but it's a genre I have wanted to read more in. This built up the suspense, it gave questions. There are so many twists and subversions of my expectations. While the ending is not what I expected, I have so much happiness about it.... Which is weird because it is horror. I enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone who likes horror/thriller/supernatural with a bit of mystery thrown in there. I definitely want to read more of Darcy Coates's work.
3rd book I’ve read by Darcy Coates. My GOODNESS can she write a suspense filled tale! Daniel is a smart and kind hearted protagonist, and the friends he makes throughout his journey in this novel are both strange and heartwarming. Definitely a page turner!
A lovely and interesting spin on the haunted manner and ghost genre. I enjoyed immensely.

Disappointing. The plot is weak and unoriginal. Writing average at best.
