This felt like it was written by a frat boy in the worst kind of way.

If you have ever wondered what it would be like for a two thousand year old druid to be living in a present day Arizona college town, this is the book for you. Reminiscent of Neil Gaiman's Sandman series, the author incorporates all manner of beings from folk tales, legends and religions into this modern context to achieve an exciting and fun tale as Atticus O’Sullivan and his Irish wolfhound Oberon fight to preserve the druid way of life, fight against evil, and to restore the earth to health and wholeness. Being ignorant of myth and legend, i'm enjoying the ins and outs of these characters from history and legend. This tale is not as serious as Gaiman's tales, but quite fun to read, and it is the kick-off for a series known as The Iron Druid Chronicles.

I received this book for free as a part of the Goodreads giveaway, and was pretty excited. I knew who Kevin Hearne was, but had never read any of his books and really had never read anything like his books. Also, this is my first hard copy book that I received for free this way! I've gotten e-books before, but I really enjoy physical copies, so getting this in the mail was very fun.

I really don't know what to think about urban fantasy - I've read American Gods, but haven't read anything about Harry Dresden. I've read some of the popular young adult books (Hunger Games, Divergent, etc.) and didn't mind them, but they're not really for me. Overall, I'm really new to urban fantasy as a genre.

I was pleasantly surprised! I knew going into Hounded that it wasn't going to be a super heavy story. It's not a sprawling epic fantasy that will require multiple reads to catch all of the nuances. It's not a grim fantasy tale with dark characters that explore the grey areas of morality. And it doesn't try to be any of these things. It's a fast-paced, fun story that mixes witty dialogue with paranormal characters, and puts them in a conflict that doesn't have to have a direct impact on the future of the world.

It was an enjoyable book to read. I liked the characters and the writing is very witty. The plot isn't extremely tight and is a little simple, but I don't think it detracts too much from how entertaining it is. And that's what matters for the most part: whether or not I was entertained. Because why read a book if it doesn't entertain you?

I really enjoyed this book. This book was all the I was expecting and then some. It was funny read which kept me on my toes the entire time wanting to read more. As with all books that are the first in a fantasy series, there were a couple slow parts, mainly those used to help you better understand Atticus and what he really is. I can see this series potentially becoming one of my new favorite series. I'm so excited to continue on and see what else is in store.

I enjoyed Hounded quite a bit. It was short, easy to read, and filled with lots of action. Atticus is a snarky main character with a humorous sidekick. I liked reading about the magic involved, and Irish Mythology. I can't wait to read more of the story.

Myths, mythology, gods, and different pantheons exist in this amazing urban fantasy series. Snark and wit are in abundance. The narrator for the audiobook is amazing. My absolute favorite series!
