I read this book in one sitting, and I cried in that sitting also.
As much as I wish the ending to be true, I wonder if it is realistic, I really pray with all my being that it is. This book is such an important piece of writing. At first I was sceptical that I was reading about such an important Japanese event from a non-Japanese author but the way it has been written has convinced me otherwise.
