I unexpectedly loved this. Sure, maybe I didn’t gel with the humour all the time, but do you know how long it’s been since someone has mentioned Car Talk to me?? Or Carl Kassel and Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me?? This American Life??
It made me nostalgia for the voices of Ira Glass, the NPR news break that features on 89.1 NHPR at the top of the hour, the Magliozzi brothers. Maybe it’s because I don’t live in the US anymore, and so I don’t get to listen to NPR on the drive to tennis practice like I did 15 years ago. Either way, this book surprised me.

5/10 - this book took me about a year to finish & it almost became a DNF, but then finals week i was blowing through books & decided to finish it, but it’s an enemies to lovers story that i thought i would love, & in the end i did end up enjoying it, but the off putting thing about it is the main girly is 29 & is “so millennial” and her love interest is just a child who is 24, & the 5 year age different got brought up A LOT, which made the cougar vibes cringy, also, and this is probably bad of me to say, but the girly keeps bringing up her dead dad in the book who passed away 10 years prior when she was 18, like i know i can’t say get over it, but it was 10 years ago, you need to start moving on, also, i’ve decided i don’t vibe with a damsel in distress rom com book, i love a strong female character & the guy had to teach her how to become a strong women like umm no? so anyways, do i recommend it? kind of, it ended v cute, but was hard to listen to at times. oh ALSO the audiobook was VERY SLOW, the only way i could stomach it was if i listen to it on 1.2x speed, and normally i’m a 1x girly, just keep that in mind if you also downloaded this for free from audible last summer (:

This was a confusing read. I didn't really like the main characters, yet didn't hate them. And exactly that with the storyline. Although this wasn't really my 'vibe', it had some fun elements and was nice to read.

It was a rollercoaster that just fell down, especially at the last third of the book when most logical actions and reactions went out the window.
