I am not going to rate this because I'm not a fan of history. I learned a lot, but can't say I enjoyed it. If you like gorey stories about people repeatedly being terrible to one another and reading through myriad examples of why separation of church and state is a good idea, then this is the book for you.

This book gives a good overview of the first thousand years of Christian history. It was not dry or boring like some history books can be. I do wish that the author added a timeline and more maps. The book does skip ahead and them go back in time depending on the topic of the chapter. A timeline would help keep everything in perspective. Despite that, I still found the book easy to follow.
