I only really only read this because it felt weird to not finish the trilogy (also, I’d already bought the book). I really liked the first book but then the second was a bit meh. This was also meh. Glad it’s over.

Loved this sequel! I think the slight rating drop between this book and the previous installment may be due to how much of it Jovis and Lin spend at separate locations. I don't think this bothered me as much as it did some other readers. Mephi is my favorite, but some of the other characters had some pretty great arcs. I'm honestly a little embarrassed with myself I didn't see certain things coming because they fell into place so well.

2.5 ⭐️What a frustrating conclusion to this trilogy. I found myself just wanting it to end! I’m not sure if the author was facing a lot of pressure to publish by a certain time or what, but the writing in this book was just sloppy. I had a hard time tracking who was talking, who was being talked about, where everything was, how far apart things were, size and scale, and how much time was passing. This reads like a very rough draft that needs to be cut to shreds to find the actual story.

The only reason this gets 2.5 stars is because of the ossalen. I have dogs and while I know they don’t speak, they definitely seem to sometimes. And while I don’t have Alanga strength, they do give me an emotional strength!

Also, they did Jovis so dirty!! His and Lin’s relationship was a huge draw for me in book 2 and for this to be how it played out…spending 90% of the book apart, and then he gets almost killed but saved by magic amnesia water??? I kept thinking that the water that Ranami and Ayesh found was ossalen blood and maybe you lose a memory if it’s not your ossalen, but NOPE!! Just unexplained magic amnesia water.

Just overall super disappointing and colors the previous books in the series due to a very unsatisfying conclusion.

wow . the entire world was just so intriguing and the magic was so !! i cant put this into words. i cried my eyes out at the end. i felt so attached to all of these characters that i felt their pain. i felt proud of what they accomplished. i was so sad thinking things wouldn’t be ok between two characters.. but it will be. and it’s beautiful that they get to rebuild. FUCKKKK i loved this series a lot and i’m so glad i read it
