Reread: I still stand by my 4 star rating, but I actually enjoyed the first more than the second. I’m interested to see if my opinions change on any of the other volumes I have already read like they did the first.

4/5 Stars. I liked this volume more than the first, probably because i was now already brought into the environment and knew what it was all about. Excited to continue with them!

Oh Crow, oh Crow, you're a piece of an awesome guy, you know that? There it goes, the impossibility to choose the favorite character starts right now. Thanks god it's just Crow and Yoh... for now.

My most favorite parts? Definitely when Shiro attacks the tower, I love it <3 Even though it's much more gruesome than in the anime (and slightly different, since in the manga I didn't noticed the trademark smile that gives away who the girl is - or maybe it's there and I just really didn't notice it.)
The second one would be, call me sick or whatever, the one with Crow getting his eye removed. Yes, I'm weird like that, sorry... maybe that's why I'm reading this gore-some manga xD

Anyway, liked this volume even more than the first one before, the story is getting interesting and complicated, more Branch of Sin characters are introduced and let me tell you, the character design is really cool.

Quickly, quickly to the next volume :)

Poor Ganta is once again fighting for his survival in a world he has little understanding of - though maybe if he had actually read the prison rule book he might have at least a bit of a clue. Every turn is fraught with danger, and overcoming his normally passive nature is a struggle. The thought of dying spurs him to put up a fight, and with a bit of luck, he's managed to hold his own. So far.

The villains are one-dimensional, but the fighting is fun and suspenseful. The art is eye-pleasing - clean, bold lines with easy to follow action scenes and convincing motion.

With this amount of gore, it should probably be rated mature. I like Shiro, but this is all pretty depressing. I'm not bothering to get attached to anybody.

It's weird as hell, but two volumes in I'm actually kinda digging it.
