Sarah Brooks took a compelling concept, interesting characters, and solidly good writing and turned out some that is rather dull. Maybe it's me. I really liked the ending.

I never knew I needed Cozy New Weird until I read this book. Despite the lighthearted sounding title it was equal parts eerie and achingly beautiful. Reminded me of Annihilation or Perdido Street Station- had me so deeply creeped out I was scared of the dark. Warm and uplifting while still firmly unsettling at its climax.
