Down with the System: This book surprised me. Hints of natural and psychological terror along with a misterious threat made this read interesting and thrilling. The beginning is a little bit dense, but the prose is fantastic.

I went in with 0 expectations and really enjoyed this. I found it well written and was hooked almost immediately trying to figure out what was going on. The characters were compelling. The only reason it’s not 5 stars is that it just wasn’t quite satisfying but I can’t put my finger on why.

I'm about to enter my senior year of high school and I'm facing a lot of change. Change is what this book is about and reading it at this point in my life was really important. I have a reluctance to finish books, because the ending is often inadequate in my eyes. I was worried that I would despise the ending, as the book itself had been full of twists and turns and what have you, but the ending was perfect and ideal for this novel. I really enjoyed this book, plus I don't read a lot of mystery, so 10/10 experience.
I also think it's worth mentioning that I read it because one of the reviews mentioned piranesi, which was a book I adored. And for the vast majority of the book I didn't realize the similarities between the two novels, but as I reached the end and started really reflecting on that I was like 'oh wow they really are similar'. So definitely give this a read if you'd liked piranesi.
