The book made me appreciate the Muppet version even more.

“We must go on, because we can't turn back.”

I can see why this is the staple pirate adventure and coming of age story. It certainly feels that way with all the iconic ingredients of the recipe. It's easy to read with no unnecessary over-worded paragraphs like most classics from this time era and I appreciated the episodic style and action-driven plot. I think it would be unfair for me to say it was a bit simple considering this is the famous adventure that started them all and even after all this time, this book still leaves an impression and teaches any age how to face the world full of fears, dreams and challenge.

I read this book back in middle school, I believe. It rocked my world! Still so good.

This is my first time reading this book. As an adult, I have to say this book was aimed more towards children, but it was enjoyable none the less! The character development really stands out and is reason enough for this to be the classic it has become. Nearly every stereotype we associate with pirates today comes from this book from "pieces of eight" to their obsession with rum. It was really interesting to read this keeping that in mind. This is a great adventure story that readers of all ages would enjoy!

A classic tale of adventure among "gentlemen of fortune" on the high seas. I have been meaning to finally read this ever since watching (and enjoying) the series "Black Sails." An enjoyable, fairly quick read.

The narrative loses its fervour as the end comes near and delivers a very mild and textbook ending, unlike the beginning which has some explosive elements to it.
