Had a hard time deciding between 4 & 5 stars. A fun adventure story.

Margaret and I listened to this on a trip to Franklin TN. It is her favorite childhood book and this audio in particular.

It is a fun and exciting story. She has a strong preference for this Molina reading, but it doesn't hold up well to 1.5x speed - his sentences often fade out at the end which is frustrating. It has long been on my "someday" list and I'm so glad I was able to read it with my daughter and enjoy it.

Good classic story. The language used is getting pretty dated (as well as sailing related vocabulary that I didn't know) but still is a good book and nice read.

Mi sono sempre tenuto lontano dalle storie di pirati, pensavo non facessero per me, che quel mondo non mi appartenesse. Quanto mi sbagliavo!

Not really my kind of book but I would imagine younger readers would still find it thrilling. I do love Jim as a character though.

It was OK, but it didn’t thrill me as much as I hoped it would. I wish I could say I would have enjoyed it more if I’d read it as a kid, but I tended to prefer stories featuring at least one female character with whom I could identify and often found sausage fests like this one dissatisfying. That sort of thing doesn’t bother me as much now that I’m a crotchety old lady, but it does still bother me.

This reviewer expresses the rest of my feelings about this book better than I could (plus she included an image of one of my favorite romance novels) so I’ll let her explain them:

It started off really good then towards the middle the story line started to slow down. It took great effort for me to finish. Maybe it's a better movie?

I'm reading this one with my boys and we're really enjoying it together. I love introducing classics to my young children through the young reader editions.
