So, this book was so disturbing and beautiful at the same time. I felt ashamed to fall in love with the vulnerability of the character, but I couldn't help but feel myself misunderstanding the novel. While I understand that this is a higher grade French translated work. I feel that we could have been given a bit more about what these places and things were from the point of view of a narrator. Overall, the descriptions are exquisite! I always felt like our character had some distinctive feature about him; such as the idea of being the "best necrophile, or stealer of life and death". Not only this, but our main character described his victims as if they were transferring the lost life in them, to our narrator through who knows what. In addition, this novel is great, a little bit difficult to understand at some points, not perfect, but I enjoyed it thoroughly. Finally, the mediocre yet captivating ending was enjoyable. I learned a lot about the phycology of the necrophile's mind.

Reading The Necrophiliac could be a challenge for some. It is about a very unsavoury topic - the title is not a play on words. Inside, however, we find gentle prose written as diary entries by a gentleman with a wretched affliction. Beautiful to read, yet terrible and ghoulish to comprehend. The very short length makes it easier to recommend to those who have. strong constitution and seek out dark fiction.
