This is the first book in the Dericott series, with Delia and her seven brothers as the main characters. Delia's brothers are falsely accused and imprisoned and she must come to their rescue - which is difficult for the noble daughter of an earl. She feels her stepmother is behind things but can she find proof?
This is a fast paced story with not a lot of character development. Delia appears naïve, trusting men she met with her brother's lives and safety. There is a heavy religious theme throughout the books with biblical quotes and the characters often praying for help or a sign. This is a good retelling of the six swans folk story *also known by other titles and is an easy read.

Moderate: Violence
Minor: Sexual assault
There is one minor instance of attempted sexual assault (it does not happen). There is some violence in the book but it is not overly gory or graphic but it does occur in a few areas in the books.
