Ok, well we have to deal with the elephant in the room first. David Baldacci has either never read a Reacher book and it is just the most amazing coincidence that he created the exact same character or he owes Lee Child some money. That is really the most polite way to say this. I loved this book, and enjoyed it immensely but I also kept checking myself and reminding myself that I wasn't reading a Reacher book. It would take less time and words to list the way the two characters are different than what makes them alike so here goes, Puller has a cat and an apartment. That really is it. Other than that you could make arguments about how alike they are but essentially this is a story about a badass Army MP well over six feet tall and 250lbs of muscle, who beats people up (especially being fond of headbutts), who teams up with a female at some point to help solve a case, the case is challenging and requires him to use his gun skill multiple times which is ok because he is an expert marksman, once he figures it out he does everything to bring down everyone connected to it, and delivers his own brand of justice, with fists and guns, and the bad guys lay bleeding and dying while our hero walks off into the sunset. I am describing this book here, but I could just as easily be describing a Reacher adventure. Hell even look at the names "Joe" "Puller" and "Jack" "Reacher". The first name is a common "J" name, the second name is verb ending in "er" and gives the impression of action, and both characters are primarly referred to by their last names.

Anyway once I got around the fact that I was essentially reading a Reacher book that wasn't, I still very much enjoyed it. It really does have everything I love about a Reacher book here without having Reacher. As a character Reacher is far superior, but Puller is still very interesting and maybe I am only saying Reacher is far superior because I have been reading and loving Reacher books for years. But I will say this that if those two guys ever squared off it would be one hell of a fight.

This book was awesome!! I couldn’t put it down- it was a real page turner! Baldacchino, once again, does not disappoint! Unbelievable ending! No spoilers here- you have to read it!

If you enjoy Lee Child's Jack Reacher series, you will enjoy John Puller.

Zero Day is an exciting read that kept me guessing. The writing style was a bit clunky for my taste, particularly at the beginning, but I appreciated its straightforward manner.
