For the first half of this book, all I could think about was how John Puller is remarkably similar to Lee Child's Jack Reacher. Their biography and other details are similar to the point of distraction, but Puller actually does react differently in situations than Reacher. Once I got that out of the way, I started to enjoy the book more. The story takes a long time to set up, which is fine, but the ending almost went too quickly. There were a lot of pieces coming together and assumptions being overturned in a very short amount of time. As the story got bigger, though, it also became less believable. The writing was a bit sketchy in places, but I really liked each of the side characters. Altogether not a bad story, but nothing special.
