Do not mistake my DNF as me not enjoying this book. I loved the stories I read. They were extremely well written and have such a refreshing take on folklore and fairy tales. The problem was 1000% me. I thought I could read an anthology but I couldn't. I don't know why. Anthologies are incredibly hard for me to read all in a sitting. I will revisit the book because I did enjoy the stories I read.

I liked about half of these, which is pretty good for an anthology.

An amazing book that satisfied my queer heart. Some stories were less engaging than others, but there wasn’t a single one I didn’t like!

Historical fiction isn't my usual genre and I don't read short fiction often so this was an interesting collection of stories for me. The quality was uneven, though I imagine that's typical in short story collections with a mix of authors. It was fun exploring different time periods and places with which I'm not so familiar. There were a lot of sweet and fun stories, one was excellent but felt unfinished, one was...truly incomprehensible, and the last one got me in my feels.
