Oh boy where do I begin?
I initially requested to Warrior Princess Assassin on netgalley because I was a BIG fan of Brigid Kemmerer’s other series - Cursebreakers. What I loved about that series was the storytelling, the excitement on each page, character depth, and the romances were so well done.
I have absolutely no idea where any of that energy went with her adult fantasy debut. WPA started off strong but after a few chapters, it started to lose steam. Part of me feels like perhaps we lost the plot when trying to hop onto the romantasy train….
In my opinion, I thought the barebones plot we were given was entirely uninteresting and far too predictable, but not in a fun way where you felt rewarded for having picked up on context clues. It was all fairly obvious from the get go who the real antagonist was all along.
The book focused way too much on character interaction and neglected to explain much about the worldbuilding to the reader, which would have been extremely important. By the end of the book, I understood next to nothing about the political relationships and history between the three countries/entities involved in the conflict.
The characters had the same arguments and conversations consistently over and over and it dragged on for way too long. I considered dnf’ing multiple times as the story spent way too much time on the characters traveling and repetitive interactions.
Now when it came to the romance, I felt that the lack of chemistry between the three characters as a whole made the throuple feel uncomfortable and forced. The spicy scenes we got in the last ten percent of the book felt awkward, clunky and weirdly placed in that point in the story that I ended up skimming just to get through to the ending.
I tried really really hard to like this story but I fear this kind of storytelling is NOT my cup of tea. I think I would have liked it if there was a better balance of the fantasy aspect of the story.
As always, thank you to Avon & Harper Collins for letting me read an early copy for free in exchange for a review. I likely will not be continuing this series. I may still recommend to my audience as this book may be interesting to others.

Im so upset....that I finished this book and its not even officially out so I can't even fathom when the next one might come out. 😭 This book is multi POV which I honestly normally get annoyed by, but this is perfection. Top author for me for sure!

We love finishing a book in one day and thank the lord for this pulled me out of my reading slump.
Hehe this book is so good. The pacing was absolutely perfection. I never felt bored or like we had been in one place too long. I did see the plot twist coming but i honestly didn’t care because of how much I enjoyed this book. I loveee the two MMC and my husband is so happy that they’re both blond 😂😂. I also love that we didn’t get the spicy till the end of the book and I loved the dynamic between all three characters. How each character is so for every other and meets their needs.

Wow this book was basically written for me I loved it!! The throuple yearning was top tier and while it was very slow burn had me wanting more constantly. The characters were all well written and each pov was very distinct. I loved the blend of personalities and how they balanced each other. I guessed some of the twists but was surprised by others and stayed engaged with the plot throughout. I can't wait for the next book!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Wow!! I don’t know what to say other than what an amazing book! This surpassed all my expectations! Jory (FMC) was such a great character. I love the she was feminine and somewhat delicate but was able to show how truly strong she is! I loved both the MMCs Asher and Ky. They both had so much depth and well set up back stories. You want to know more about them throughout the whole book.
The setting was also great and atmospheric. It was easy to picture the different scenes. I felt very immersed in the story to the point I got so invested I had to set it down and walk away lol!
I also really enjoyed the romance a lot more than I thought I would. It flowed really well! The ending was so freaking good! I absolutely can’t wait to read the second book!! I need it now lol!

Warrior Princess Assassin is Brigid Kemmerer’s newest novel and the first in her new Braided Fate series. I knew very little going into this one, other than to expect a general arranged marriage set up and it wasn’t until talking to a friend I realised it was a poly romance (MMF) and that made me excited to see where it would pan out to.
The novel follows alternating perspectives of the Warrior (Ky), the Princess (Jory) and Assassin (Asher) as they attempt to navigate the agreement agreed by Jory’s brother (Dane) and Ky and try to avoid getting killed by an order sent out to kill Jory and Ky. Honestly the overall plot is quite predictable but that’s not really why we’re here. The tension and interactions between the titular characters is why we’re here.
3 perspectives? Triple the yearning and journey of self discovery. Especially because in the just under 400 pages I wouldn’t say much happens. They only get to figuring out their relationship properly around the 90% mark.
It took me a little while to get into this, partially because of a couple of writing quirks that stood out a bit in the first 15-20%. Couple of examples are Ky’s perspective knowing Asher’s name before they were introduced - really not that big of a deal but something I noticed. And a description of her as a ‘blushing schoolgirl’ - an interesting one as it caused too many questions in my brain about schooling in this world and then I realised it wasn’t relevant at all. But all of these had dropped away by the 20% mark.
Overall, it was refreshing to see a poly romance explored the way this was and I really enjoyed my time with it. I look forward to the next instalment!
Thank you Harper Collins/HarperVoyager and NetGalley for the ARC. My review is my honest opinion.
5⭐️ I genuinely didn’t think this book would be for me but I’m obsessed with it - it might be in my top 10 of the year. I loved the characters, the plot, the tension, the world….. amazing. Can’t wait for the sequel bc this one left off on a CLIFFFFFF. Out 8/12!
I initially thought this title was bad but it actually really fits the book & I don't even know what else I would call it. BK-I’m sorry I doubted you.
This was a delight. I didn’t think I could like throuples, so consider me SHOCKED. This story is very character driven but still has some cool magic and a plot to keep things moving. The spice?? Like excuse me BK… I didn’t know you could move like that! 🥵🔥 Loved this. Can’t wait for book 2!
Thank you to the publisher for providing me with an arc in exchange for my honest review.

Brigid Kemmerer has somehow wrote a perfect book, AGAIN. The yearning and the falling in this book had me right alongside each character, filled with earnest love and hope.
This kept me on the very edge of my seat. I’d finally fixed my sleep schedule and then I started this book. I’m going to need more, like, immediately.
I am in love with each of these characters, but I am irrevocably in love with Brigid Kemmerer’s writing. I think I could read only her books forever and never get bored.
This book is. It is perfection, I feel. I devoured this, I destroyed my routine, I stayed up til 2am, I screamed in HarperVoyager’s DMS (even before I was lucky enough to get an ARC!). Magnificent. Masterpiece.
I need more immediately pleaseeeee!!!!!!!!
